Message from the Headteacher

I hope you managed to hear us on BBC Radio Merseyside last week? We are so proud of Josh, Lauren, Coby and Charlie who spoke so well. 4/5K learned so much during the Art of Manufacturing Workshop. Mr Kendrick looked cool in his hi – viz, Safety goggles and hard hat! NAC Group loved our School and want to repeat the Workshop with Y6 next month. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02qv362#auto

By popular demand, we are holding a traditional Sports Day with a couple of Parents’ races on Tuesday 14 July – get training!

Crash My Kitchen Format

Crash my Kitchen is a new and exciting online mini-series that will change the way families eat and give them the chance to taste and learn about food from across the world from the comfort of their own home.  We are looking for 8 – 13 year olds and their families to take part.  A mystery chef heads to their home to crash their kitchen for the day! Anyone who wants to apply should head to:

Fundraising:
Staff and children enjoyed dressing up for Red nose day and we managed to raise £285 and sold 250 red noses. Scholastic book fair was a great success this year. We sold £460 worth of books. This will generate around £60 commission for school fund. We have been given £185 from JFW to pay for overalls for our community farm . HSP will be paying for the white coats and wellies that we need for the Cheshire show in June. Well done to everyone who entered into the Sooty & Sweep colouring competition. We had some lovely entries which raised £49 for school fund.

Improvements to the building:
The upstairs corridor has had new carpet fitted. The dining hall is due to be redecorated and furnished with new tables and chairs in the summer break. There will also be a VIP room created in what is currently a store room. Five classrooms upstairs will also be getting redecorated with new vinyl floor covering. The roof needs some repair work along with general maintenance to the whole school. The care takers will be working hard over the summer break to ensure it all gets done.

Playground Area:
The children are enjoying the new equipment in the playground. They have new sit on go carts, balls, hoops and spinning roundabouts. It is so nice to see the children with mobility problems enjoying them too.

Attendance:
Miss Jones our attendance officer continues to working hard on improving lateness and maintaining a high level of attendance in our school. If your child is off ill, please call the school office before 8.45 am on the first day of absence.

Dinner Money/ Milk Money:
Dinner money is £2 per day. Milk Money for next term is £7.70. This should be given to your child in an envelope clearly marked with their name and class, and given to the class teacher. There is also a post box in the reception area of the school. (Envelopes are provided)

Eco:
We are so proud of our Eco team who have been out litter picking in the community.

Nursery:
Nursery staff and children are very excited to be having a new activity cube built in their outdoor area. We still have some places available in our 3yr old setting starting September 2015. If you would like to register your child for a place please see Vanessa Davies in the school office.

Little Learners:
Our 2 yr old setting is currently full with a waiting list of children. If you are eligible for funding and would like to register your child, please call into the school office or speak to Mrs Hinchliffe in the Children’s centre between 8.45 and 11.45am.

Curriculum Matters:
We are the Lead School for an Early Years opportunity. We continue to work with Alistair Bryce Clegg. Alistair is proud to be working with our team and he shares examples of our outstanding practice on his website. We have had many schools visit our Reception classes from as far afield as Bolton!

Year 6:
Year 6 children worked very hard in SAT’s week. Thank you to all parent for making sure their children had early nights and early starts. The staff worked very had to ensure the children were relaxed and confident throughout the tests. They can now look forward to working with their teacher who are making sure their transition to High school runs smoothly. The children will also be looking forward to the end of year leaver’s party.

Summer Fete:
It’s that time again! We will be looking for helpers to set up for the Fete on Friday 12th June from 1pm. We also need donations of unwanted items for the tombola and the raffle. It is going to another wonderful event as we have organised donkey rides, bouncy castle, face painting, nail bar, dunk the deputy, beat the goalie, Grove Street’s got talent, refreshments, hook a duck, balloons, Elsa, sweets, candy floss, and weigh the cake.
