Year 4/5

Welcome to Year 4/5
We have three Year 4/5 classes they are Class 4/5P - Mr Porter is the class teacher and Ms Jones is the teaching assistant.  Class 4/5K - Mr Kendrick is the class teacher and Ms McCann is the teaching assistant.  Class 4/5MW - Mrs Williams/Mrs Merrick are the class teachers and Mrs Foster is the teaching assistant.

Please have a good look at the subjects, topics and skills we are learning this year. Click on each term for the subjects covered.
This term we have started a times tables ‘100 club’ on a Friday. This is 100 times tables questions and the children are timed. Each week they compete against their own score to move up the ‘improved’ ladder. Please practise times tables at home too!

Encourage your child’s interest and curiosity by looking at books and websites together and talking about them.

If your child has some work to research, please help them, but without actually doing the work. If you have the chance to further their interest in the ideas of this theme please take it, as your enthusiasm and interest is most important.

By the end of the unit, we hope your child has achieved all of the learning targets. We hope they have had an enjoyable time in the classroom and we hope you have enjoyed seeing your child work with enthusiasm. If you have any comments about the work your child has done, please get in touch.

Autumn Term 2016
This term we shall be learning all about Boudicca and the Roman occupation of Britain. In science, we shall be reaching for the stars and learning about the Earth, Moon and our Solar System.
Later, we shall be looking closely at the local area and the History of Port Sunlight.
In the Power of Reading, we shall focus on the story of "Noah Barleywater Runs Away" by John Boyne.
In Maths, we will of course be building on your child's skills in number, geometry, measurement and statistics.
At home, you can support your child's learning by practising times tables, number bonds and involving them in activities such as cooking, shopping and DIY!
Remember, you can also log on to Mathletics  at
And please don't forget to hear your child read at home and sign their reading log regularly.
We fortunate to have Mrs L Dalby teaching music to 4/5k and 4/5P, while Mrs Williams, our Music Coordinator, will teach 4/5MW.
We are planning trips to the Lady Lever Art Gallery and Port Sunlight this term as part of our Local History module.
