Cognition and Learning

Cognition and learning is one of four broad areas of need that is used when identifying and supporting individual difficulties in children.

Additional support may be required if a child is struggling with retaining information or learns at a slower pace, for example. Intervention programmes in Maths and English are provided to support individual children who may need a more personalised activity, however, if a child continues to struggle to make progress further support will be provided through outreach agencies.

Some children may have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia. Additional resources, teaching strategies and interventions are used to ensure that each child is able to learn and succeed to their full potential.
