Foundation 1 Nursery 2020 - 2021
Welcome to our Nursery class page!
“It is vital that we get to know and value all young children. All children learn more in the period from birth to five years old than any other time in their lives.” - Development Matters 2020
Our nursery provides high quality care and education for all children aged three to four with a qualified teacher who specialises in Early Years supported by a team of talented support staff who have a wealth of experience and a passion for working with children in the Early Years.
We pride ourselves in the safe, calm and nurturing environment that promotes the mental health and wellbeing of all our wonderful children who attend and places focus on children’s personal, social and emotional development as a foundation for all learning.
Our setting strives to provide a challenging, inclusive and purposeful environment which values equality and diversity whilst thoroughly embedding opportunities to explore the curriculums seven areas of learning and development as well as the characteristics of effective learning.
Whilst the current pandemic has brought about many changes for school life, we are very passionate about maintaining the buzz and sense of community which makes Grove Street such a special place. Please continue to communicate with us and do not hesitate to contact us via our Class Dojo page or contact our school office.
There are seven areas of learning and development that must shape educational programmes in early years settings. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, are:
• communication and language
• physical development
• personal, social and emotional development
Providers must also support children in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are:
• understanding the world
• expressive arts and design
