Year 2 2019 - 2020
Welcome to the summer term 2020 and we thank you for continuing to connect with your Year 2 teachers.
We miss the children very much and welcome your connecting with us through Class Dojo to share news about your home learning experiences and to seek our guidance whenever needed.
We have re-arranged this class page and added some fresh ideas for the weeks ahead. We hope that you find it helpful and useful.
BBC Daily Lessons
BBC Daily Lessons - This link will lead you to a daily schedule of lessons pitched to Year 2 learning. It runs a Monday to Friday sequence.
Here you can discover a host of activities for family fun and engagement, where everyone can join in.
Keep your child supplied with reading and phonics learning by linking to familiar Read, Write Inc resources and activities.
Please message your child’s teacher on Class Dojo if you require advice upon their Read, Write Inc colour band or the correct set for speed sounds and spelling.
These links give writing and handwriting support.
Encourage your child to write when they have the urge to, whatever the form of their writing. Something as simple as writing a shopping list will allow them to keep their spelling skills and writing stamina in check.
Regular practice is recommended in recalling number bonds within 20 and the multiplication and division facts for the 2x, 5x and 10x tables.
Telling the time to the quarter hour, and in five minute intervals, is another area that needs regular practice.
For wider coverage of Maths areas of learning, use these links.
Wider curriculum (themes)
To access activities across the curriculum, the following links are excellent choices.
For Purple Mash, your child needs to use their unique username and password. If you haven’t yet been provided with them, please message your child’s teacher on Class Dojo for this information.
Given the restrictions and uncertainties of current daily life, the importance of children’s and adults’ mental health is uppermost in our thoughts.
