Year 2 2020 - 2021
Mrs Banks
Miss Weston
Miss Jones
Welcome to Year 2!
The year 2 team this year is Mrs Banks, Miss Weston and Miss Jones.
Our current PE day is Thursday and on this day we invite children to attend school in their PE kits. As the weather begins to turn cooler we recommend children attend in warmer tracksuit bottoms and jackets as shorts will not keep them warm throughout the day.
We will be sending Read Write Inc. story books home with your children on a Friday every week. Please ensure your child can enjoy their reading at home by providing them with a closable bag (book bag) on this day. Please note books will only be changed on a Friday, no other days.
In the interest of keeping us all safe from cross contamination, please ensure your child doesn't bring toys in to school. Thank you!

Keep your child supplied with reading and phonics learning by linking to familiar Read, Write Inc resources and activities.
Ruth Miskin Set 1 Speed Sounds and Spelling
Ruth Miskin Set 2 Speed Sounds and Spelling
Ruth Miskin Set 3 Speed Sounds
Please message your child’s teacher on Class Dojo if you require advice upon their Read, Write Inc colour band or the correct set for speed sounds and spelling.
Writing Activities
These links give writing and handwriting support.
Encourage your child to write when they have the urge to, whatever the form of their writing. Something as simple as writing a shopping list will allow them to keep their spelling skills and writing stamina in check.
Maths Activities
Regular practice is recommended in recalling number bonds within 20 and the multiplication and division facts for the 2x, 5x and 10x tables.
Telling the time to the quarter hour, and in five minute intervals, is another area that needs regular practice.

Wider curriculum (themes)
To access activities across the curriculum, the following links are excellent choices.
For Purple Mash, your child needs to use their unique username and password. If you haven’t yet been provided with them, please message your child’s teacher on Class Dojo for this information.
Mental Health
Given the restrictions and uncertainties of current daily life, the importance of children’s and adults’ mental health is uppermost in our thoughts.
