Communication and Interaction

Communication and Interaction is one of 4 broad areas of need that is used when identifying and supporting individual difficulties in children.

The difficulties a child may experience are:

  • struggling to pronounce words correctly
  • difficulty in understanding or following instructions
  • challenges when interacting with peers
  • struggling to form sentences
  • difficulty understanding social rules when communcating

These are just a few areas in which a child may struggle with communication and interaction. In order to support with this, school will make a referral to the speech and language therapist who will then assess and the provide a programme of support for each invidual child.
