Life Skills & Financial Literacy
We want our children to develop an understanding of money and use their maths skills in real life situations.
Managing money
Think about the decisions we make when we buy something.
Learning about needs and wants
Learn how we have to prioritise what we spend money on.
Value of money
Understand the value of money and what we can afford.
Planning for the future
Think about how to can make our goals a reality through planning and saving.
Our children will be involved in fun workshops, for example:
Super smoothie shop
This workshop introduces children to the concepts of enterprise, buying, selling and budgeting in a series of group activities involving setting up a smoothie shop.
Save our pennies, save our planet
This workshop engages children with ways to save money through choosing more environmentally friendly behaviours in the home. CHildren will learn about the benefits of renewable energy and explore daily activities that use a lot of energy.
Fraud scene investigators
This workshop requires children to help solve a fraud which has been committed against their friend. They are then asked to create and present a report warning others of the dangers of identity theft and fraud.
It’s party time!
This workshop requires children to work in groups to put together and present to the rest of the class a fully costed, reasonably priced birthday party for a child.
