Our School Council

written by our Chair Mayzi-Lei (Year 6)

What is school council about?

In school council we talk about how we can make our school a better place and we share children’s ideas.

After every meeting we go down to show our headteacher (Mrs Walsh) and our deputy head (Mrs Stanley) what we talked about and to see if they agree with our ideas.

We meet at 12:15 until 1pm and our chair and Miss Barke discuss through the Agenda, then after that we talk through the minutes of our last meeting.

These are the roles of School Council and what they do:

  1. Chair – Mayzi-lei- the chair leads the meeting, also she reads the Agenda.

  1. Vice Chair-Daniel- the Vice Chair writes down what’s

happening in the meeting/ writes down notes, he also takes the Chair’s place when she is absent from school.

  1. Secretary-Jayden- the secretary also takes down notes and gives us suggestions.

  1. Treasurer- Miss Barke – she takes care of all the money that we raise for the school.

What we have achieved this year!

  • We raised funds for Children in Need .

  • We raised money for the Rudolf Run .

  • We have thought about new ideas for our school menu

  • We voted for our walk to school ambassadors.

  • We also are designing our own walk to school badges, we all decided to do one about climate change.
