SEMH Base

The Club

We look at each child as an individual and sometimes they face challenges that can impact their ability to access learning to their full potential. As a result, we have created bases in school to support children's specific needs.

We are lucky enough to have areas in school that support children with higher levels of need who may struggle to access the mainstream classroom full-time.

The Club

This provision is based in The Bungalow and is designed to support children in developing their skills in emotional-regulation, resilience and building and maintaining friendships. Overseen by the SENCo, the children follow individualised programmes of study to support their reading, writing, phonics and maths. These are carefully monitored by our English, Maths and Read Write Inc leads. Daily access to whole-class activities in the mainstream classroom ensures that the children maintain those links and relationships with their class teacher and peers.

Daily access to physical activity, sensory based resources and discovery tasks supports the children's specific, individual needs allowing them vital opportunities to engage in a wide range of learning. By following a creative curriculum alongside a strong focus on self-regulation and mental health and well-being and with a high level of adult suppoort, the children are provided with every opportuntiy to succeed and reach their full potential.

The Club is not intended to be long term provision for children, we are supporting their additional needs with the aim of returning full time to mainstream class or to support their transition to specialist provision.
